Jump Jam!

Jump Jam is a fantastic way to get children into exercise!

The JUMP JAM programme provides students with a valuable exercise habit early in life along with skills and attitudes to meet their ongoing health and physical activity needs. It also allows for development of a wide range of movement skills which can help students to understand the ‘science’ of how they move.”

Healthy homework

Healthy homework is the idea of children at primary school doing homework tasks with the aim of reducing unhealthy eating and increase the fitness of New Zealand homes.

The authors of the study explain in this article that “there is evidence that organised physical activity is declining in many countries and sedentary behaviours, such as television watching and computer use, have increased rapidly in children over the past five yearsPoor nutrition and consumption of unhealthy energy-dense food and drink, as well as lack of exercise is believed to have contributed to the widespread increases in childhood overweight and obesity.”

I don’t think we quite understand the importance of families and smiles. I think most of the world problems could be solved if everyone had a smile on their face everyday!

Boy kicked out of childcare centre

I think it is pretty disgusting that this 4 year old has been asked not to come back to a centre because he has HIV. When did New Zealand start discriminating and segregating our children?
